On getting into real estate
On my way home from living in New York, the previous passenger had left a real estate magazine in the pocket of the seat in front of me. Whilst I was reading the articles inside, it dawned on me that this career was for me as I loved working with people and I could not sit behind a desk all day. Once home, I enrolled in the course literally the next day and have not looked back.
The happiest moment in my career
Becoming an accredited Grade 1 Auctioneer for Marshall White, obtaining my full real estate licence and starting my own team with three of my colleagues.ย
The most memorable moment
Successfully selling 2 Waterloo Street, Camberwell, for in excess of $11,800,000 โ which is still the highest price in Camberwell.
Best advice heโs received
Best career advice I have received when I was starting out at Hocking Stuart in Hawthorn was: โPeople need to like you, need to trust you and need to know that you are honest and morally above board. This is a long-haul business and therefore, over the years as you continue to do the right thing, your reputation as being trustworthy will grow.โ
Biggest challenge
I feel the political uncertainty around immigration will be a challenge with new restrictions on legal immigration.
Change for good?
I would love to see more female sales agents, especially auctioneers, as I feel itโs a male dominated industry.ย
โEliteโ agent means
An elite agent is one who continues to win the hearts and minds of others, to be honest, upfront but also to have a passionate mind. This includes constantly improving all aspects of their business to be better and to become an effective agent.
#WeAreRealEstate is a series of short interviews with 140 agents all over Australia exploring the industryโs hopes, concerns, future challenges, and what it really means to be an Elite Agent.
