Australia’s very own UFO house is out of this world

If you’re looking for a home that’s light years ahead of the rest of the competition, this UFO-shaped Sydney property is truly out of this world.

According to Domain, the five-bedroom, three-bathroom property at 35 Bayview Avenue in Earlwood, has an unusual shape that looks eerily similar to a flying saucer.

Sales agent Alexandra Stamatiou-Buda, of McGrath Leichhardt, holds the listing and said the property was affectionately known as the ‘UFO House’ because of its unique elevated and circular design.

The listing describes the home as “an iconic landmark with a signature circular form”, with the unique floor plan resembling a spaceship with curved archways around the foyer.

Inside, the interiors are light-filled and glamorous with marble detail, not only on the floors but also on the staircase and in the bathrooms.

There are also crisp whitewashed walls and extensive use of glass, as well as chandeliers featured throughout.

The property also boasts a retro-style kitchen, with timber cabinetry and a breakfast bar with city skyline views.

The spacious property also includes a lower level that comes with a rumpus room and workshop/gymnasium, which is perfect for those looking to work on their fitness.

Ms Stamatiou-Buda said the iconic property had attracted a lot of attention from buyers.

“It’s obviously a very interesting property and it’s a landmark if you’re driving in the area, or flying into the city, so there’s been a lot of people who have wanted to inspect the property,” Ms Stamatiou-Buda said.

She said the home has been particularly appealing to creative people who love the space and outlook.

“There’s obviously uninterrupted city views, beautiful natural light that’s coming through, but I just think it’s because of the angles and its circular design and the fact that it would be quite challenging to build today,” she said.

“Buyers coming with that background in mind can appreciate the structure and how difficult it was to erect 50 years ago.”

The property is being offered for the first time in more than 40 years and is scheduled to go to auction on Tuesday, June 25.
