Barry Plant hosted its annual fundraiser ‘Wishvember’, where they took a cut from every property sold in November and donated $119,260 to Make-A-Wish Australia.
The Announcement:
While COVID uncertainty forced Barry Plant’s annual Wishtober fundraiser to become Wishvember, the result has been a record amount raised for Make-A-Wish Australia® – a charity that works to grant cherished wishes for seriously ill children and teenagers.
A market fuelled by pent-up buyer demand following a long lockdown, helped the Barry Plant group notch up a record November and with an amount donated from every property sold in the month, the Victorian network will hand over a handsome cheque to Make-A-Wish for $119,260.
This brings the total amount that Barry Plant has raised for Make-A-Wish over the period of their partnership to $862,655.
Alannah, who was the face of Barry Plant’s Wishvember campaign has a neurodevelopmental disability. Her wish was to have her own horse, and Make-A-Wish made that wish come true, making Teddy, a horse she had bonded with, her own.
Barry Plant CEO, Nigel O’Neil, is excited about the result. “As a company we are really focussed on giving back to the community, of being connected to the human stories of our clients and in our local neighbourhoods. There is nothing as heartbreaking as a child with a serious illness but we know that the granting of a dearly held wish can give a sick child the mental lift to help them deal with their treatments. Hopefully the money we have raised will grant many wishes – just like Alannah’s.”
