Brownlow Medallist ‘Aker’ joins Ray White Ascot

Brownlow Medallist, and three-time AFL Premier Jason Akermanis has joined Ray White Ascot, in the role of sales agent and auctioneer.

The former Brisbane Lions player enjoyed a stellar 248-game career, kicking 263 goals over the years. Now he is returning to the state that made him famous, but in an entirely different role.

“Having a professional purpose, the ability to be autonomous in your career, and being given the opportunity to master your craft are key fundamentals to success,” Mr Akermanis said.

“Thanks to my mum, I’ve always loved property. We weren’t very wealthy when I was growing up, but she taught me what was important when it came to real estate.”

‘Aker’ had been away from Queensland for 14 years, and after the birth of his daughter Zoe, and the onset of COVID-19, he decided to move states and switch careers.

“Along with my wife Megan, and my other two daughters Charlotte and Sienna, we decided moving back to Brisbane would be best to be closer to lifelong friends and both our families.

“I wanted to start in a completely new industry, so I picked up the phone to an old friend of mine who has great knowledge of Ray White, to ask for his advice.

“I wanted a mentor, someone who could help me grow and potentially prosper in this industry, and I was fortunate that he put me in contact with one of the best in Dwight Ferguson at Ray White Ascot.

“Being a family man, Ray White really aligned with my values, especially with Dwight because he understands the need for outstanding client service combined with family time at home.”

Dwight Ferguson, Director at Ray White Ascot, has a history of working with sportspeople, finding it a natural fit.

“I’ve employed a lot of ex-athletes in the past and the vast majority of them have gone on to be a great success in the real estate industry,” Mr Ferguson said.

“I expect the same from Jason and I look forward to seeing him grow and progress along his new chosen career path.”
