Singapore-based co-living company Hmlet (pronounced ‘Hamlet’) has announced its March debut into the Australian market with the launch of two co-living properties in the Sydney suburbs of Newtown and Marrickville.
This latest move marks the company’s second overseas location outside Singapore, with Hmlet on track to quadruple its members to more than 2,400 across Asia Pacific by the end of 2019.
Hmlet is set to kick off with two housing projects in Sydney’s inner-west suburbs. The main aim of the co-living project is to reach a target of 1,000 members (tenants), with an expansion in Melbourne and Brisbane on the cards next year.
Founded by Mr Kamalski and Zenos Schmickrath, Hmlet is a Forbes rising new business and has fully-furnished rental apartments in 15 locations ranging across Singapore and Hong Kong.
Hmlet @ Newtown is one of the first purpose-built co-living properties in Australia. It will accommodate twenty members and feature a co-working space, communal living and kitchen spaces, and a rooftop terrace.
Hmlet @ Marrickville, on the other hand, is slated to be one of the largest build-to-rent projects in Sydney’s inner-west, housing over seventy members and acting as a cornerstone property for Hmlet’s expansion in Sydney.
The two co-living properties will look to target individuals aged 18 to 34 and offer three memberships: master, regular and pocket. Each membership is developed to suit different needs and styles.
Hmlet’s properties in Newtown and Marrickville are the first of a series of co-living developments to be launched in Sydney over the next few months as investors gain increasing interest in build-to-rent properties.
