Coronis team raise over $16,000 for cancer research

The Coronis team have completed their fourth 40-hour Tour De Office bike relay challenge, riding 593 km while raising more than $16,300 for Smiling For Smiddy, who fund cancer research at the Mater Foundation.

More than 80 agents, property managers, mortgage brokers, support staff and directors jumped on the stationary bike across various South East Queensland Coronis offices, including founding director, Theo Coronis at the age of 82.

Mr Coronis said he was very grateful to everyone who had given up their time to participate and fundraise for their chosen charity.

“I really want to thank everyone who donated as this is a cause very close to my heart,” Mr Coronis said.

“My grandson is currently going through chemotherapy and the only reason he is recovering is because of the research people have done and continue to do at facilities like the Mater Foundation so together, we’ll hopefully beat this thing sooner or later.”

Managing Director Andrew Coronis said the over the past four years, the team had raised just shy of $100,000 through the Tour De Office challenge for charities including Smiling for Smiddy and Diabetes Queensland.

“We signed up for Tour De Office back in 2015 to promote a healthy, active workplace and lifestyle and give back to the community that supports us,” Mr Coronis said.

“The bike relay is always a fun and engaging week for the team and it’s great to see everyone work together to finish the 40-hour relay and raise money for Smiling for Smiddy, who we’ve now partnered with for three years.

“It’s a fantastic organisation who are doing a great job at promoting sun safety, cancer awareness and funding a range of projects for those suffering from melanoma, prostate, ovarian and breast cancer so we’re proud to support them and be a part of their team.”
