Two Elders Real Estate agencies have been successful in obtaining Advantage Community Grants from realestate.com.au.
The grants will allow Elders to give a little extra to charity and help their local communities.
Elders Real Estate South Australia has been awarded a $1500 grant for their partner charity Childhood Cancer Association.
Elders Real Estate Double Bay is the recipient of a $1500 grant, which will go to Share The Dignity.
The realestate.com.au Advantage Community Grants are intended to help real estate professionals support their communities.
Real estate agencies are encouraged to apply for the grants and are chosen based on the strengths and merits of those applications.
Alex Cornelissen of Elders Real Estate South Australia, is over the moon about the news.
“We are thrilled to be able to make these donations. It’s been a really tough year for charities with so many people struggling. This grant will really help, and we’re very grateful to realestate.com.au for making it possible.”
Cath O’Loughlin, Chief Executive of the Childhood Cancer Association, said the grant has come at a welcome time.
“It’s a lovely Christmas present for our clients. We’ll be able to put the money towards accommodation for rural families who need to stay in the city while their child undergoes treatment.
“$1500 can pay for 50 nights accommodation, so we can make it go a long way and our clients will really feel the benefit. We’re all very grateful to Elders and realestate.com.au for making it happen,” she said.
Elders Real Estate Double Bay chose Share The Dignity as their recipient charity. Antry Lahana of Elders Double Bay brought her background in marketing to bear on the application.
“I’m absolutely thrilled that I was able to obtain this grant for Share the Dignity,” she said.
“I think it’s so important that we don’t forget the vital role that females play in the family. Especially in challenging times, their health and well being can take a back seat to others, and we need to change that balance.
“As real estate agents, we’re often on the forefront of issues like domestic violence.
“Because we go into rental properties, we see the signs of abuse, and the toll it takes on victims. Share The Dignity put together care packs for domestic violence victims, with period products but also toiletries and make up.
“It can help women feel good about themselves during really hard times in their life, and help them to heal emotionally.”
Rochelle Courtenay, founder and managing director of Share the Dignity, extended her gratitude for the grant.
“This grant will help us to provide support for people living in crisis situations to manage their periods. These include people living with domestic violence, homelessness and in our drought-stricken farming communities,” Ms Courtenay said.
“Share The Dignity works to end period poverty in Australia by providing people with free period products — either through direct donations or via our Dignity vending machines.
“This grant will be a huge help in stocking and maintaining these machines so we can keep providing access during these tough times.”
Helping community organisations is core to Elders’ mission statement. These grants will help people across Australia, including rural communities.
