On getting into real estate
I was 17 years old and fresh from school, having just finished my HSC. I walked up and down the local shopping strips with copies of my resume, handing them out to every real estate I came across.
I received a call from one real estate offering me an interview for an administration position. I attended the interview, and got the job! I then slowly worked my way up from admin to property officer, property manager, senior property manager and am now also a team leader.

The most memorable moment
The most memorable property I have ever leased was an amazing eclectic property on the Central Coast. I presented to win the management on the Tuesday, had signed paperwork on the spot.
I had a tenant in mind whom I called immediately after, showed the property on the Wednesday morning and had the application approved and the tenants moved in by Thursday morning.
The owners were thrilled with the result. I had also rented the property for $50 higher than other competitors had appraised the property at.
Best advice she’s received
Best advice I have ever received is to control your day. Do not allow your day to control you. Be organised, know exactly what tasks you have to do – work off a task list. Have checklists and follow them. Have proper systems and procedures in place. Communicate well with your clients and don’t be scared to have those tough conversations.
Biggest challenge
The biggest challenge I see for the industry is moving with the times.
Everything is being automated, which will mean that property managers will have to focus harder on maintaining that personal contact and maintaining relationships, picking up the phone more and meeting face to face.
Change for good?
It is starting to happen. Artificial Intelligence being implemented and more automated processes.
This will allow PMs to have more time working on relationships rather than being bogged down with so much administration work everyday. It will be an absolute game changer and I am so excited to see it come to fruition!
‘Elite’ agent means
My definition of an elite agent is someone who is a high performer with consistent results and happy clients. It is someone who adapts to change and embraces it and is happy to help others to achieve their career goals.
#WeAreRealEstate is a series of short interviews with 140 agents all over Australia exploring the industry’s hopes, concerns, future challenges, and what it really means to be an Elite Agent.
