Flagship office of the Agency in Bondi Beach opens its doors

Designed by award-winning architects Redgen Mathieson, The Agency’s stunning new office holds prime position in the new Pacific Bondi Beach development overlooking the iconic Sydney Beach. The open, transparent, striking space has been designed to embody and foster the brand’s dynamic approach to real estate.

CEO Matt Lahood says that he views the Bondi office as more than a workspace, but there for the community, whether it be staff, clients, business partners, family or friends. “Our vision was to create an environment where our staff could share ideas, network and engage. Energy is everything in this business and the Pacific Bondi Beach offers agents the best lifestyle and work environment we can deliver. We want people to pop in, have a coffee, enjoy the view and plug-in to our ‘open’ hot desk,” explains Lahood.

Deliberately wanting to avoid the usual style of real estate office and the Agency team set out to create a space as unique as the business model itself and its dynamic culture. This strategy led them to Redgen Mathieson, a firm renowned for its rational planning and rigorous simplicity across residential, hospitality and commercial spaces.

There are standout design features within the 570sqm space that compete with the amazing beachside views. These include the 9.5 metre-long, solid-concrete hot desk, spacious LED video walls and transparent internal pavilion-cum-boardroom. Additionally, there is a purpose-built, in-room auction facility.

“We commissioned Redgen Mathieson as they are high-end design architects with a strong focus on the optimal utilisation of space, with a high attention to detail,” explains Steven Chen, Director The Agency Projects.

According to Phillip Mathieson, architect and Director of Redgen Mathieson, The Agency’s flagship office was conceived as a gallery space, with exposed raw concrete surfaces, blockwork walls and services key to the design’s framework. Transparency is an innate part of The Agency’s ethos and this is physically represented in the office’s open-plan, exposed design. Polished concrete floors and a palette of white, silver and grey throughout, unify the space.

Steven Chen and the Projects team also have a strong association with the Pacific Bondi Beach development as they were instrumental in the sale of the project.

It was a unanimous agreement between The Agency’s directors Matt Lahood, Ben Collier, Shad Hassen and Steven Chen to move into the Pacific Bondi Beach, given its outstanding location, space and unique facilities.

“Our team worked closely with the vendors from the very start of the Pacific project, right through to the last apartment we sold this year for $11.75m (which was a shell). We are now delighted to be doing business here on a full-time basis,” Steven Chen says.

The Agency, 180 Campbell Parade, Bondi Beach, will be home to 45 agents, along with property management and administration staff.
