Former Rolling Stones drummer’s historic manor on the market

The former home of the late Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts is on the market for $13.85 million.

Situated in the village of Ashleworth, near Gloucester, the Victorian Gothic manor, known as Foscombe House, offers a mix of historical allure and contemporary conveniences.

Constructed in 1866, the estate has been lauded by historian Sir Nikolaus Pevsner for its captivating Victorian architecture, according to Mansion Global.

Watts, a permanent Rolling Stones member from 1963 until his death in 2021, bought the property in 1976 and lived there until 1983.

He converted a coach house into a music studio, which now serves as a 186sq m guest house.

The mansion features a unique blend of Victorian Gothic elements, including a castellated tower and turrets. Inside, the property comprises eight bedrooms, a sitting room featuring a pyramid stone fireplace, and a formal dining room.

The upper-floor bedrooms offer sweeping views of the English countryside.

A converted stable block now functions as a recreational facility, boasting a kitchen, resistance pool, sauna, and steam cabin.

The current owner, who purchased the 52-acre property for about $5.23 million in 2011, has restored the home and planted thousands of trees.

The estate has been carefully managed to attract local wildlife, with designated areas for ducks and deer.

In another recent transaction, Mick Jagger and his partner Melanie Hamrick sold their waterfront home in Florida for $4.5 million.
