Friends co-creator buys home with oceanfront basketball court

Marta Kauffman, famed television writer and producer, who is best known as a co-creator of Friends, has acquired an oceanfront property on Malibu’s prestigious Broad Beach for $23.6 million in cash.

The property, spanning nearly one acre, features a basketball court and a detached guesthouse.

Kauffman’s purchase adds to her existing estate next door, which she has owned since 2006, according to the Robb Report.

Together, the two properties offer her almost 1.3 acres of land and over 650sq m of living space on one of Malibu’s most sought-after beaches.

The property was sold by Mark Attanasio, owner of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Attanasio had purchased the double lot more than 20 years ago for approximately $6.4 million and invested in significant upgrades, including remodelling the main house.

Before the sale, the property was listed for nearly $25 million.

The interior of the four-bedroom main house boasts a high-end chef’s kitchen and a spacious dining/family room that leads to an oceanfront patio.

The upstairs features a master bedroom with ocean views and a private balcony.

The property also includes well-maintained lawns, gardens, a sandy beachfront sitting area, and a wooden deck equipped with a jacuzzi and fire-pit.

A unique aspect of the property is a one-bedroom guesthouse situated below a detached two-car garage, complete with its own bathroom and laundry room.

With this latest purchase, Kauffman now owns one of the most remarkable estates on Broad Beach.

Her combined properties include two oceanfront homes, two detached guesthouses, and garage parking for five cars.

Situated between the two properties is a basketball court, adding a sporting element to the lavish compound.
