Hot on the heels of taking out the award for Small Residential Agency of the Year in 2022, The McGill Group is celebrating further recognition, being named as finalists in five categories of the Real Estate Institute of Queensland Awards for Excellence in 2023.
Located on the Sunshine Coast, The McGill Group is headed up by award-winning Queensland agent Mark McGill and is supported by the Agents’Agency.
Since first launching three years ago it has enjoyed huge success and expansion, this year opening a new office in Mooloolaba.
With a focus on customer service, the brand was initially started by Mr McGill in an industrial shed in Buderim with just two staff.
The team has now increased to 11 and boast a reputation as market leaders in their area.
“I’m really proud of the team,” Mr McGill reflected.
“After winning the Small Residential Agency of the Year last year, this is a real testament to our small team that we are nominated for five awards.”
The five categories the group is finalists in include a repeat nomination for Small Residential Agency of the Year, which the team were delighted and humbled to win in 2022.
In addition, there are numerous individual finalists including Mr McGill who has been nominated for salesperson of the year for the ninth time in his career. He has previously won the category twice.
Meanwhile, Executive Assistant and Sales Associate Caitlin Allen is a finalist as Agency Support Person of the Year, Head of Property Management Holly Dunstone has been named as a Property Manager of the Year finalist and agent Krystle Kirk features on the list for Rising Star Salesperson of the Year.
“We may be small, but we are working with the best and it’s a team environment where everyone chips in and helps out,” Mr McGill noted.
“Our team has grown market leaders in their areas, and we are really excited to see Holly nominated again for the second year in a row, while it’s the first time for Caitlin and Krystle.”
Mr McGill initially started the brand during the height of Covid in 2020.
His aim was to build a real estate business with a focus on excellence that encompassed both great customer service and an exemplary culture.
“My main reason for going into my own business was because I wanted to do things my way,” he explained.
“I wanted to be able to adapt and change as quickly as the market does.”
To support this vision, he opted to partner with the Agents’Agency and recently celebrated three years with the rapidly expanding national network.
Mr McGill noted the partnership allowed him to run his business, his way, and had proved invaluable in helping him manage the growth of his team.
“It’s been fantastic,” he reflected.
“The support is sensational. They look after accounting, including paying my suppliers, payroll, and trust accounting.
“The reality is agents are normally skilled at selling properties, but not necessarily at running a business.
“Their support allows a skillful agent to operate a business and still focus on doing what they do best.”
Winners of REIQ Awards for Excellence will be announced at a Gala on Saturday, October 28 at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.
