Sergey Brin, the co-founder of Google and one of the wealthiest individuals globally, has recently acquired a magnificent property in Malibu, California.
The stunning blufftop Point Dume estate, previously listed for $34.5 million, was swiftly purchased by the tech executive, confirming rumours surrounding the buyer’s identity, according to Dirt.com.
Brin, who has been spending considerable time in Southern California since 2020, demonstrated his fondness for the area by adding this luxurious home to his collection.
Following his separation from second wife Nicole Shanahan in early 2022, Brin discreetly acquired the Point Dume property, which has now become his bachelor pad.
The purchase coincided with the couple’s divorce proceedings, potentially explaining why their previous Point Dume residence remains vacant and boarded up.
Notably, Brin has a penchant for homes formerly owned by rockstars. His first Malibu residence, previously belonging to Pink, graced his life from 2010 to 2016.
The recently acquired property has its own claim to fame as it was once owned by Pat Benatar between 1997 and 2003.
The house was later purchased by Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence, who extensively renovated and expanded the midcentury structure before selling it to businessman Steve Buchanan in 2017 for $21 million.
Buchanan then achieved a significant profit when he sold the property last year.
Built in 1953, the estate sits atop a high cliff, boasting breathtaking views of the ocean and coastline.
Although it appears unassuming from the street, the gated property encompasses over 6000sq m of living space, featuring six bedrooms and six bathrooms.
Noteworthy amenities include two separate master suites, a state-of-the-art movie theatre, a sleek gourmet kitchen, and multiple doors leading to various patios.
The back of the house offers an infinity pool, a wooden sundeck, a fire-pit lounge, and a BBQ centre, all overlooking the sparkling ocean that stretches toward Catalina Island.
Spanning nearly one acre, the terraced backyard also includes a zig-zagging wooden staircase leading to the serene beaches of Point Dume, a favoured location for other notable figures such as Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez.
Brin’s real estate holdings extend beyond Malibu. In addition to his duo of Point Dume residences, he owns a penthouse in New York City’s West Village and at least two luxurious homes in Los Altos Hills, Silicon Valley.
With an estimated net worth of approximately $100 billion, according to Forbes, the Russian-born tech genius holds the tenth position among the world’s richest individuals.
