New names in Harcourts, Knight Frank and deVere Group leadership teams

Harcourts Western Australia, Knight Frank Australia and deVere Group have all announced new leadership appointments.

Harcourts Australia today announced their new chief executive officer in Western Australia, at a time when their network has welcomed nine new offices in as many weeks.

Meanwhile, Knight Frank has revealed another new appointment in an expanding list of announcements, and international fintech corporation deVere Group has created a new role to focus on diversity.

Harcourts – Western Australia

Recognised for his successes in leadership, sales, and operations in real estate, recruitment and franchising, Harcourts Australia said Clayton Treloar is an excellent appointment at a crucial time in Western Australian real estate.

According to Harcourts Australia Chief Executive Officer, Marcus Williams, it is rare to find a leader with a combination of experience and success in franchising strategy and in a real estate franchise.

“Clayton had many years of experience in the franchising industry, both at a franchisee and a franchisor level,” Mr Williams said.

Mr Treloar is a certified franchise executive, a global qualification that requires three years of study, and is on the Franchise Council of Australia (FCA) where he is involved in strategy, advice for franchises and is a judge for the annual Excellence in Franchising Awards.

For the past seven years, Mr Treloar has been the Australian CEO for Mail Boxes Etc (MBE), which has 40 franchises in Australia.

“Clayton has real estate in his blood,” Mr Williams said.

“(He started) with his family’s own prominent real estate agency in Mandurah in Western Australia where he achieved his real estate sales certificate and sold real estate for several years, winning awards along the way, before moving overseas to lead operations for a major brand.

“Clayton understands our client base in this climate; he is a property owner himself with an investment portfolio, and is on the committee of a large 100-unit strata complex in Perth.”

Mr Williams said the brand’s values are very much about “people first”, and Mr Treloar shares those values.

Mr Treloar added it was an honour to be heading up Harcourts in his home state.

“Real estate is an important basis for wealth creation for most Australians, and this is an industry that is in my blood,” Mr Treloar said.

Knight Frank – Queensland

Knight Frank Australia has announced Dominic Long will start in the role of head of Queensland in the coming weeks, as he relocates from Melbourne to Brisbane.

He has nearly 40 years of experience in property, having previously worked at Cushman & Wakefield as managing director of commercial real estate in Victoria, where he more than quadrupled the business revenue in three years.

Mr Long also spent 15 years at Savills, including 12 years as the managing director of the Victorian office, and nearly 20 years at Hardwicke Property Group, Ireland’s largest privately-owned property developer.

Mr Long will replace Shaun Witherow, who was instrumental in managing Knight Frank’s Queensland business through COVID-19.

Mr Witherow is set to pursue his own passion by returning to Asset Management Services (AMS) in a national role as partner, national client solutions, AMS for Knight Frank.

Knight Frank’s Chief Executive Officer James Patterson said Mr Long was highly regarded in the industry, and would be a strong leader for the Queensland office.

“With his extensive experience, Dominic already has a solid professional and personal network in Brisbane, including long-standing relationships with clients including major institutions and super funds with extensive holdings in Queensland,” Mr Patterson said.

“Not only does he have strong contacts, but Dominic has a wealth of knowledge and expertise both in the commercial property market and in leading teams to success, and as such, will be a huge asset to our business.

“We are thrilled to have him come on board, and look forward to seeing our Queensland office go from strength to strength, both in terms of our people and the service we are providing to our valued clients.”

Mr Patterson added that Mr Witherow’s appointment to a national role in the AMS team would enable Knight Frank to deliver on its growth plans, capitalising on his unique skill set, experience and network, having had 25 years’ experience in the industry.

Mr Long said he was eager to move to Queensland as soon as restrictions allowed, and drive the growth in Knight Frank’s Queensland business.

“Queensland is entering an exciting time with an abundance of infrastructure projects in the pipeline, the 2032 Olympics on the horizon and significant population growth, particularly over the past few years as southerners have migrated north,” he said.

“I look forward to being part of the imminent growth and development of Brisbane, and leading our Queensland office to success, while ensuring our clients receive the best possible service.”

deVere Group – International

Independent financial advisory service deVere Group has announced its first chief diversity officer.

Based in Malta, Beverley Yeomans will take up the inaugural role in addition to her duties as the chief operating officer.

She will report directly to founder and chief executive officer, Nigel Green.

Mr Green explained deVere was committed to making the globe-spanning organisation more inclusive, diverse and equitable.

“To ensure that this critical commitment is successful, we needed someone who knows our culture inside out to lead the charge,” he said.

“Beverley has been at the top of her game in a senior executive role and on the Board, for some 22 years in a highly male-dominated sector.

“Due to traditional industry biases, it’s a depressing reality that very few women have ever achieved this level, so young, and for this long in international financial services.

“But Beverley tore-up that ‘rule book’, breaking down barriers and leading by example. She was the ideal person to become our first-ever chief diversity officer.”

Ms Yeomans was “thrilled” to assist the group in further incorporating diversity and inclusion into day-to-day operations.

“I’m excited to get going on building on the strong foundations we have already created at deVere, helping to galvanise the culture of inclusion,” Ms Yeomans said.

Ms Yeomans has already worked towards ensuring deVere has diverse staff and an inclusive environment.

“But there’s much, much more to do,” she said.

“We will continue to lead the drive. Why? Because it is the right, fair thing to do and it makes for a better and stronger organisation.

“I look forward to launching bold, innovative ideas and being a catalyst for promoting an even more inclusive work environment where all our people belong and thrive.”
