Since launching more than 35 years ago, Hockingstuart has established itself as a strong force in the Victorian property market. Now, the agency has announced its expansion into NSW, opening an office in Nowra.
The office – Hockingstuart’s first outside of Victoria – will be led by Principals Jamie and Rebecca Gossage and represents a major milestone for the brand since it merged with Belle Property in 2019.
Established in 1985 in Victoria, Hockingstuart is known for its focus on volume-driven markets and a reputation for innovative property marketing.
Hockingstuart and Belle Property CEO Peter Hanscomb said the merged model and dual-brand approach represented a conscious strategic proposition for the business.
“The distinction of the two identities means that rather than cannibalising ourselves, we can grow into a broader range of marketplaces and tailor it to the brand offering,” Mr Hanscomb said.
He noted Hockingstuart’s agents had developed a well-earned reputation for their work ethic and he was confident that this would prove to be a positive attribute for the expansion into the national market.
“There seems to be a complacent belief that only prime lifestyle locations warrant premium service, and a new market entrant who can challenge this through exceptional and unwavering customer service in markets characterised by volume over value is long overdue,” Mr Hanscomb said.
The decision to open in Nowra was based around the growing NSW South Coast market, which has arisen due to an increase in regional migration and a boost in infrastructure development in the area.
Jamie and Rebecca Gossage have a combined 20 years’ local realty experience and, as a long-term Nowra resident, Mr Gossage said he was keen to establish enduring relationships with clients in the region.
“We were motivated to become the local real estate agency known for their long-lasting clients and repeat business, which only comes about through exceptional customer service, communication, and transparency,” he said.
“When we were introduced to Hockingstuart we knew we had found the brand that could support this vision.”
Ms Gossage said she was eager to take the opportunity to build a reputation within the brand and was attracted to the security the partnership with Belle represented.
“The national influence gives us a great deal of infrastructural and business development support across training, technology, and talent, which will allow us to focus on serving the Nowra community,” she said.
