House in the same street as The Block homes comes up for sale

If you think you can do a better job of renovating a home than the contestants on TV series, The Block, then a Hampton property in Melbourne, might just give you an opportunity to test your skills as a renovator.

The small weatherboard home, which sits amongst the five properties that were made famous during The Block’s Fans Vs Faves season in 2021, which was won by Mitch and Mark, is now for sale.

According to Domain, the home at 5 Bronte Court, Hampton is up for grabs with a price guide of $2.4 million to $2.5 million and offers a blank slate for would-be renovators.

Bult in 1954 by the owner and her husband, the property is set on a 1302sq m block, and is in mostly original ’50s style, with charming flourishes – including the green enamel bath and joinery around the living room fireplace.

It sits on a quiet street that is perfect for families with young children and has good access to parks, schools and is close to a number of other exclusive suburbs, such as Brighton.

Marshall White Sandringham’s Simone Tindall said the campaign had so far garnered plenty of interest from a range of different buyers excited at the home’s potential.

“There’s been a lot of interest so far from a combination of home buyers and developers, which is always a good mix for a campaign,” Ms Tindall said.

“One developer is looking at putting three on there and another is considering two good sized homes.”

“The families that are looking at it are considering building a family home, because it’s such a great location and popular for families to build lovely big homes, which was evident by The Block.

Ms Tindall said the size of the block itself was something that was very unique to the area.

“There are a few large blocks in the area, but 1300sq m is quite large for the location,” she said.

“You would find that most blocks range anywhere between 600 to 800 sq m, so 1300sq m takes it to a another level.”

She said the couple that lived in the home had been there since it was built in 1954.

“They’ve raised three children in the home and they all went to the private schools in the area, like Haileybury and St Leonard’s College, and those same schools are just as important today as they were back then,” she said.

Expressions of interest close at 5pm on August 8.
