What was your first job and what did it teach you?
My first was as a waitress in a Thai restaurant when I was 15 years old.
I worked in the restaurant a couple of nights per week and it taught me the value of money and hard work, even though waitressing was not my strength.
How many years have you been in the industry?
I have worked in the industry for six-and-a-half years.
Did you choose property management or did property management choose you?
I chose property management because I felt it was a great place to start, and to learn the industry.
What’s a special place in your area and what do you love about it?
It is very hard to choose just one special place in our area as we have so many beautiful locations all the way across the Lower North Shore.
Some of my absolute favourite places include Blues Point Rd and Blues Point Reserve, which has amazing views of the harbour.
I also love Bradfield Park which is another waterside reserve and is actually located under the Sydney Harbour Bridge in Kirribilli.
Another special place that I adore is the beautiful foreshore walk around Cremorne Point. You get to take in Robertsons Point Lighthouse, as well as look at some lovely older homes.
What’s your most memorable rental property and why?
My most memorable property would be 6 Upper Cliff Rd, Northwood.
When I met the owners at the property, I fell in love with the home itself and the history behind it.
It was leased after the first inspection and at the time it was the highest rental return I had ever achieved.
What key goals are you focusing on this year?
In my role, once the properties are leased we appoint one of our senior property managers to take over and manage the investment.
My focus this year is to remain connected to all the landlords I have welcomed to Richardson & Wrench North Sydney over the past five years.
Where would you like to be this time next year?
This time next year, I want to be able to go overseas for a holiday!
If you could change one thing about the industry what would it be?
It might be wishful thinking but a balanced Residential Tenancies Act that is clear and easy to follow for both landlords and tenants.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given and how has it helped you?
Treat others the way you would wish to be treated and always consider the other person’s perspective.
It has helped me in my career as I have built long-lasting relationships with many clients.
