RE/MAX Australia’s lads feel the pain for Make-A-Wish

It’s ‘Wax for a wish’ time again for RE/MAX Australia.

Last Friday, Joel Davoren, RE/MAX Australia Franchise Director, and Matthew Andrews, CEO of Pivotal Financial, the real estate network’s finance arm, grit their teeth, bared parts of their body and were waxed for a good cause, RE/MAX Australia’s chosen charity, Make-A-Wish® Australia, the organisation helping grant the wishes of children and teenagers battling life-threatening medical conditions.

Mr Davoren is no newcomer to the experience, having ‘volunteered’ in December last year for round three of the event. The shirt was off again for Mr Davoren, a cyclist, while Mr Andrews surrendered a leg.

The two corporate identities went first in a series of RE/MAX Australia waxing incidents as part of ‘Wax for a Wish’, the children’s charity’s fundraising initiative.

RE/MAX Australia Marketing Manager Aimee Doherty said the fundraising campaign called on the real estate network’s men to wince through a few moments of pain for a good cause.

“In recognition of their bravery, Joel and Matt get to ‘volunteer’ the next candidates from our real estate network, and I think they have a couple of agents in mind.

“We hope to get in four or five rounds by Christmas,” she said.

The first waxing was live streamed live via the RE/MAX Australia Facebook page, which also has the fundraising link. Donations are welcome via the Group Everyday Hero page.

“We think a few moments of wax-induced pain to help make wishes come true for young people suffering through life-threatening medical conditions is a very worthy cause,” said Ms Doherty, “and one our RE/MAX boys are up to, but it is about fundraising so we want people to get behind them.”

RE/MAX Australia is in its fifth year of partnering with Make-A-Wish® Australia.

“With the support of our network and customers, our fundraising has grown exponentially year-on year, with the tally for the last financial year being more than $70,000,” she said.
