Darren Lewis-Date and Sue Lewis-Date celebrated the launch of RE/MAX Elevate on 1st June, the first real estate business to be co-owned by this Brisbane mother and son team.
The two broker owners have extensive real estate experience, particularly in their local market of Tarragindi and surrounding suburbs.
Mr Lewis-Date has been a successful local agent for 15 years while Ms Lewis-Date’s reputation and strong real estate presence began in the early 1980s.
They joined RE/MAX in December 2008, working at RE/MAX Colonial in Annerley.
Both live in Tarragindi, with Mr Lewis-Date joined by his wife and two-year-old twins.
A licensed real estate agent and auctioneer, Mr Lewis-Date initially studied business, but during a short break from hotel management in 2000, his real estate flame was well and truly ignited.
“I worked as an off-sider to my mother for a bit, and cemented a passion,” he said. “She was (and still is) a ‘gun agent’ but needed more administrative support at that time, dominating her market in Tarragindi, without the backing of a team.”
In 2003 he left the hotel industry to join Ms Lewis-Date as personal assistant.
“We both quickly realised I was no PA and saw my calling was in sales.
“We were a bit ahead of our time with our sales team structure, but were an obvious fit with RE/MAX, which we joined and added a PA, Katrina Robinson, who is still on the team today though working in business development.
“She was joined by another Katrina… Katrina McCabe, who is a PA with eight years of experience in property management , so we will be growing that side of the business as well as expanding the sales team.”
For Mr Lewis-Date, ownership of a real estate business was always where he was destined.
“Mentoring salespeople makes me a better sales person and businessperson myself. It’s something I commit to.
“Mum clearly saw that I was a career agent, and this year she was ready to take the step with me into ownership, capitalising on our existing systems supported by RE/MAX plus the access we have to business support, training and technology and international marketing platforms and networks that come with the brand.”
RE/MAX Australia Franchise Director Joel Davoren welcomed Darren and Sue Lewis-Date as RE/MAX broker owners.
