Combining new and familiar faces, an ongoing high degree of local market expertise, and consistency of service, RE/MAX Living is now the name of the long-time established RE/MAX Ultimate in Burpengary.
Well-known local community identity, businesswoman and licensed real estate agent, Kathy Sweeney, will build on the success of the real estate business as she brings all her business acumen to the fore.
With more than 30 years in business administration and senior management within the sporting industry, her first introduction to the RE/MAX office was as a consultant in back-end operations eight years ago, invited in by Mark Cheney who established the business in 2008.
“When I decided to really immerse myself in real estate in recent years, Mark was at a certain point in his own business career.
“He saw I had the passion, the drive and the business acumen to head the business, and with me as owner, he knew he could more comfortably take the step into a conjunctional agent role on the RE/MAX Living team,” said Ms Sweeney.
RE/MAX Australia Franchise Director Joel Davoren paid homage to Mark Cheney’s leadership and accomplishments over the years.
“Mark opened the RE/MAX office in Burpengary on 1st March 2008 and that business has built on its successes and accolades over the decade, including Mark reaching the network’s highest status award, his own sales team receiving top ranking and the office holding a place in the network’s top three.
“We thank Mark for what he’s brought to the network in productivity but also his personal contribution as a business leader and mentor to others,” Mr Davoren said.
Ms Sweeney agrees that the presence of Mr Cheney and the experienced team he built lays a great foundation for her own business.
She says taking on her own real estate business has been her greatest challenge ever, and one that she could not have done without her husband Deane, a commercial finance lawyer.
“He has made the process incredibly smooth, working closely with the RE/MAX Australia team,” she said.
Mr Sweeney takes a director’s role in RE/MAX Living.
Family and community are very important to Kathy Sweeney, which is evidenced in charity events hosted and planned, with support for locals as well as Make-A-Wish® Australia, the real estate network’s charity of choice.
“With around 20 years of living in Moreton Shire, I have very strong community links,” said Ms Sweeney, who is very active in the local Touch Football scene, coaching junior teams. She was an international Touch referee for many years.
Working in the business, in the growth area of project development, is son William Sweeney, who is completing university studies. Son Michael Sweeney heads the RE/MAX Living property maintenance division, which is part of strategy to have a greater property management presence in the Moreton Shire.
