The Agency‘s Brian Whiteman and his Central Coast team have closed in on over $1 million in gross commission income (GCI) for the month of August, becoming the top performers in the region.
Mr Whiteman’s record month of August brought in $1,222,000 in GCI. Remarkably, the majority of these sales were done during lockdowns with strict restrictions in place for viewing properties.Â
The record months caps off a busy 12 months for Team Whiteman. During that period they have doubled the size of their business and have consistently broken suburb and street records.Â
Mr Whiteman attributed his success to his team and their ethos of giving every customer the most “generous” service.
“I’ve built my business over many years and it’s always very much a team effort,” he said.
“As a lead agent, I’m doing all the listings side of things but when it comes to selling, there’s Josh Froud who has been working with me for seven years, Tony Trinder who has been with me for three years, and Simon Mitrovich came on 12 months ago.Â
“Then there’s Bridget (Dempsey) who is doing all the back end and my wife Jen who is running around and filling in the gaps. You need a great team to do that or the quality control wouldn’t be there. It’s important every client gets great service.”
Even before the pandemic induced trend of Sydney-siders moving to desirable lifestyle areas including the Central Coast, Mr Whiteman was setting sales records across the region in terms of value and volume, transacting over 200 homes per year. Â
He says the coast’s popularity has been compounded by a shift in perspective, with Sydney-siders being able to travel quickly from the central Coast to the heart of Sydney city with the completion of the NorthConnex tunnel.
“With NorthConnex, you can go from the Central Coast through to the Harbour Bridge and into Randwick in an hour. That’s certainty changed how people view us as a desirable place to live,” Mr Whiteman said.
His listings during August included homes valued from $400,000 homes to luxurious properties priced at $3.5 million.
He explained his ability to sell high volumes and a strong reputation across the coast can be credited to The Agency’s unique model.Â
“The big advantage of our model, is that as an agent we are allowed to list and sell wherever we like. For me, I’m spoilt with buyers from Sydney and the whole region, and being able to build rapport with people and families throughout the entire area, is a huge advantage,” Mr Whiteman said.
Mr Whiteman said their most notable sale went for $1 million over the previous street record.
“The interesting thing for us is that the property was on market for four months with another agent. We took it over and set that amazing record. Our vendors couldn’t believe it,” Mr Whiteman said.
Mr Whiteman’s success after only seven years in the industry comes back to his philosophy of being “generous” in the time and energy he gives to those around him.
“In this industry, you need to have boundless energy, be a chameleon and an eternal optimist. Build a great foundation, be honest and give a great energy where people feel good to be around you,” he said.
