Rent.com.au launches first mobile app

Rental property website rent.com.au have announced they will launch a mobile app for IOS and Android this week.

In an ASX announcement, the company said the app would bring all the โ€œunique and useful featuresโ€ the platform already has alongside a range of โ€œunique new featuresโ€.

According to the announcement, 60 per cent of the current customers using the platform access it from a mobile device.

The app will include a new way to search for property, which is being described as an “extension of the traditional suburb-based search” and will allow customers to select important lifestyle criteria during the search process.

The announcement also mentioned the company will be looking at integration with RentPay, the rental payments system they acquired earlier this year.

โ€œTwo years ago, we were losing $1 million per month and now weโ€™re just about to break even,โ€ said CEO Greg Bader in the ASX statement.

โ€œLike all our products, our app will continue to evolve with future releases to include the integration of RentPay and other new products, to ensure the app has relevance for our customers beyond the initial search period.

โ€œWe expect a strong adoption rate when it launches this week.โ€

The company currently derives 90 per cent of its income from its additional services, including a home and contents insurance option offered in partnership with Chubb, rental bond financing and utility connection services.
