Digital Live founder and former realestate.com.au executive Steve Carroll has been appointed as General Manager of Sales – Queensland for The Agency.
The appointment comes hot on the heels of Craig Caughlan joining as a property partner on the Gold Coast, as The Agency pursues solid growth in the Sunshine State.
The Agency Real Estate Chief Executive Officer Matt Lahood said he was excited and humbled to welcome Mr Carroll who has held top-tier leadership roles in the UK, Australia and the Middle East.
“Steve will be assisting with growth, training and coaching as well as mentoring across our team in the Sunshine State,” Mr Lahood said.
Mr Carroll said he was delighted to join The Agency.
“This (role) ticks all the boxes,” Mr Carroll said.
“It will enable me to be part of a team and it will enable me to share my knowledge.
“It will also enable me to develop and mentor people and bring people on, all of which is everything I wanted to get from a role.
“I have always had a deep respect for Matt Lahood and Geoff Lucas and what they are building at The Agency.
“I am looking forward to working with agents across Queensland in what represents a huge growth market for The Agency.”
In the past, Mr Carroll founded Digital Live, a coaching business that helped real estate agencies leverage their digital opportunities, and before that spent a decade at REA Group as director of sales and director of industry relations.
Other previous roles included advertising sales manager for News Corp Australia and group commercial director for EMAP in the UK.
Mr Carroll said he had a range of skills that would serve him well in his new role with The Agency.
“I like to think that I’ve got a skill that helps people identify their strengths and really work on those strengths,” he said.
“If you were to speak to people that have worked for me before, they would say, ‘Steve was really good at sitting down and helping me identify what my unique strengths were and really helping me make those strengths even stronger’.
“The other thing is, I have an incredible network of people from all across the world and from within real estate and that enables me to tap into different expertise across the globe.
“I can then bring that back to Australia.”
Mr Carroll said he also intimately understands what the modern consumer wants from real estate agents, agencies and principals, including when they go online to research companies and individuals.
“I’ll be able to help agents at The Agency really hone in on having a brilliant digital presence,” he said.
“That’s something that, in a competitive market, is so important.”
Mr Carroll said while he’d no longer have the consulting arm of Digital Live, he would continue with the charity bike rides that raise money for underprivileged children in Thailand through Hands Across the Water.
He will start in his role in February 2023, following a short trip back to the UK to visit family and friends.
