It was a big night for the Sunshine State at Belle Property’s national awards night this week, with two Queensland agents taking home the biggest gongs.
Bulimba’s Tony O’Doherty was awarded the highly-coveted National No. 1 Sales Agent of the Year Award, while Andrew Oostenbrink, of Carindale won numerous awards.Â
Hailing from Ireland, Mr O’Doherty has been a Brisbane local since 2011, and with the Belle Property brand for the past 18 months. Mr O’Doherty’s high regard in the Bulimba community and his sheer determination positioned him to achieve what no other Queensland agent has been able to before.
“The award means everything, not only to the brand but to the people outside of the brand,” Mr O’Doherty said. “We had planned it for 12 months, so it was strategically targeted. We knew what the highest achieved scores were in the past, and we knew what we needed to do monthly to get it.”Â
Mr O’Doherty said having an effective business unit allowed him to focus on what he should be doing and not be distracted by anything else. And although the market has been slow and steady, they haven’t been immune from the effects of the finance sectors and elections.
“There was much planning, a lot of hard work and good old-fashioned luck,” he said. “But my question to other agents who want to achieve success, irrespective of where their market is; everybody wants what comes with success, money, freedom, the car, fame. But, are you willing to fail enough to get there? It’s as simple as that.”
Belle Property CEO, Peter Hanscomb said it was brilliant to see their Queensland-based agents leading the charge in an awards night traditionally dominated by New South Wales.
“Belle Property is a growing force in Queensland’s property market, and it is only set to improve, especially with agents like Tony O’Doherty, who only joined Belle Property 18 months ago,” Mr Hanscomb said. “His impact in this time is tremendously impressive.”
Mr Oostenbrink was awarded No. 1 Agent (Transactions), No. 5 Principal (GCI), No. 1 Agent and Principal (Transactions), No. 7 Office (Transactions), and No. 10 Office (GCI).Â
Belle Property’s Head of Queensland Jon Iceton sais the state also dominated in PM, with Nicole Schinckel-Brown-Lunan of Belle Property Cairns awarded Property Manager of the Year (Small Portfolio), and Elizabeth Bayard of Belle Property Cornubia awarded Property Manager of the Year (Large Portfolio).
“We are exceptionally proud of all our Queensland winners,” Mr Iceton said. “Not only those who took out the number one spots, but also our agents and offices from Carindale, Coorparoo, Cairns, and Manly who ranked in the top 10 nationwide across several categories.”
Belle Property recently acquired Victorian agency, HockingStuart, bringing Belle Property’s national reach to 131 offices.
