The epic Alkira Resort House has hit the market

Cape Tribulation’s famed Alkira Resort House, a vision of futuristic architecture, is now up for sale.

Previously a set for the sequel of Godzilla vs Kong and a retreat for celebrities keen on privacy, the property offers more than just star-studded history.

Conceived by celebrated architect Charles Wright, Alkira floats over a man-made lake teeming with turtles, fish, and South American water lilies, according to realestate.com.au.

The property is completely self-sufficient, secluded amid a lush rainforest that renders even noisy families speechless upon arrival.

The 1059sq m property, completed in 2013 by original owner Rob Perry, sprawls over nearly 30ha, including 600m of private Coral Sea beachfront.

Perry, a stamp collector and property developer, took five years to design and build this marvel.

“We wanted to create something that harmonises with the land, never imagining it would gain worldwide fame,” he said.

What sets Alkira apart is not easily pinpointed. Everything here must be transported in, making its bold design all the more impressive.

Situated in the must-visit locale of Cape Tribulation, the house costs upwards of $3000 per night.

But for those who can afford it, the experience is unparalleled.

The open-plan living areas centre around a unique pool, inspired by the silhouette of “One Pound Jimmy,” a stamp from the 1950s.

Surrounded by landscaped gardens and open sky, it’s an ideal playground for children and adults alike.

The house also features a chic commercial kitchen, four lounge areas, two dining spaces, an executive office, a gym, and even a 2400-bottle, temperature-controlled wine cellar.

Alkira can comfortably house 12 guests in its six, timber-clad, cantilevered bedrooms, with each featuring a marble ensuite and balcony, while the master suite boasts an outdoor spa.

There’s also helicopter access to the property.

Currently operated as a boutique resort when the Victoria-based owners are away, the property is listed with Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty.

Agents Lynn Malone and Barbara Wolveridge revealed that the owners are selling as they haven’t visited in about five years.

Alkira is set to go under the hammer on October 12 at Queensland Sotheby’s ‘The Collection’ event.
