Not all $1.3 million dollar properties are made equal, and depending on where someone is looking to splash their cash there’s a big difference in what they can get. Forgoing the metropolitan lifestyle of bigger cities will definitely get buyers more bang for their buck.
Gold Coast
Currently, a palatial home set on over two acres of property and yet only a short 40-minute drive from the heart of the Gold Coast is on the market for just $1.3 million. This four bedroom, three bathroom home features a beautiful in-ground pool, complete with a massive outdoor projector. Pool parties will never be the same again.
It also includes an enormous garage for storage and parking space for the whole family that fits up to six cars. The shed is council approved for a kitchen, bathroom, studio layout for dual living.
Sydney
On the flipside, Sydney home hunters may not be so lucky. Despite the softening market, $1.3 million in Sydney doesn’t go too far. This inner city apartment in the heart of Sydney is smaller than most homes’ garages, being only 72 square metres.
The apartment is only one bedroom with one bathroom and has a parking space on title – although for buyers keen to be in the heart of Sydney you can’t go past that location.
New York
And while the bright lights of New York City may seem more expensive than Sydney, it’s actually better value when it comes to home hunting.
In the city that never sleeps, you can buy a 2 bedroom one bathroom modern apartment in Manhattan’s fashionable Chelsea district – the place where many A-Listers currently call home. This apartment is listed for US$1 million and also boasts a spectacular rooftop deck complete with city views.
Scotland
For something a little larger, you could head to Scotland. Taking offers over $1.7 million, this 11 bedroom castle, or Rothes Glen House, is located in Rothes in the north of Scotland – a three-hour drive from Edinburgh.
Offering beautiful countryside in a region known for its salmon fishing and malt whiskey production, the property was built in 1893. Alongside your 11 bedrooms, there are also eight reception rooms, a cellar, library, gym and smoke room and the home sits on 9.3 acres.
Tuscany
If you want to stick with something ostentatious but head somewhere a little warmer, in the region of Licciana Nardi in Tuscany you can have this six bedroom family home for $1.5 million.
This country estate dates back to the 14th century and has six acres of land with a swimming pool and stunning mountain views. It’s got all the classic touches including traditional Tuscan tiles and a woodburning fire over, as well as an independent cottage located 50m away from the main building (the granny flat your teenager wishes they were in).
