RE/MAX Australia’s newest franchise opened this month on the rooftop of the recently renovated Westpoint Blacktown.
Broker owner Ben Tan strategically positioned his real estate business, RE/MAX Noble, in a newly fitted out office space in the shopping mall, which is recognised as the most popular for residents of Greater Western Sydney.
Mr Tan chose Blacktown as his business base because he sees it as the centre of a market of opportunity.
“There is a great deal of development happening and huge investment in infrastructure, including construction of Western Sydney International Airport,” he said.
“This identified growth corridor has new precincts planned, promises employment and is attracting new residents.
“And there is value in the real estate market. Blacktown is where you can still buy a sub $1 million home.
“Just a little further in, closer to Parramatta, you would expect to pay around $1.3 million or $1.4 million for a similar property.”
Mr Tan is a former international hotel professional who moved to Sydney in 2018 and joined a short-term accommodation start-up, where he experienced the blending of the two industries – hospitality and real estate.
He went on to become a fully licensed real estate agent, highly successful and working with well-recognised brands in Kogarah and St Leonards, though always with his sights firmly set on owning his own business.
“I found myself more and more often wanting to do things my way in business. I needed to move forward, and I needed to find the right business model. That proved to be RE/MAX,” he said.
Josh Davoren, Operations Director for RE/MAX Australia, said RE/MAX had the necessary flexibility in its business model, which offers autonomy, the ability to be an entrepreneur, high level support from optimum technology tools and resources to day-to-day business processes, and a truly global name.
“Ben found the business model that works for him, and we couldn’t be more excited about the business he will be building in one of Sydney’s key commercial hubs,” Mr Davoren said.
“RE/MAX continues to attract business owners who have big ambitions for what they want their businesses to achieve but also find some of the traditional options too restrictive.
“Ben was fully motivated to own his own business, but in previous roles, working in more traditional or conservative business models, he was feeling resistance to changes he wished to implement.”
Mr Tan‘s focus will be in the business itself and its growth.
“I will have a hand in property management while working with experienced property managers, but plan to leave listing and selling to the people on my team who are the sales experts,” he said.
“I start by welcoming Rob Thomson and his team to RE/MAX Noble.
“Rob has an incredible wealth of knowledge and experience gained through more than 20 years in real estate sales and as principal of the long-established and successful business, Everything Realty.”
Mr Thomson said he was excited to continue delivering exceptional results for past and existing clients and exceed expectations of new clients from his Blacktown base.
“Working in conjunction with Ben at RE/MAX Noble, we will build on the many hundreds of successful property sales we’ve already achieved through Wentworthville, Westmead, South Wentworthville, Merrylands West, Greystanes, Pendle Hill, Seven Hills Old Toongabbie, Toongabbie and Northmead,” he said.
Mr Tan said the RE/MAX Noble team would ultimately grow, in reputation and in size, to meet the demands of the marketplace.
“Very importantly, in my business I will create an environment of professional success and personal enjoyment that I would want to join as an agent – and stay for 20-plus years,” he said.
