Local wine producer acquires well known family vineyard Well known South Australian winemakers, the Conte family, have sold one of their long-standing vineyards in the famous McLaren Vale wine region.
Colliers International’s Nick Goode and Nick Dean facilitated the sale of the Conte family’s McLaren Vale property, totalling approximately 53ha, to local wine producer Dowie Doole.
“The property has been carefully and skillfully established by the Conte family, developed to a mixture of premium varietals over a period of 55 years.” Mr Dean said.
“The sale of Conte Estate vineyard represented an extraordinary opportunity with self-evident appeal to both existing wine industry participants and lifestyle buyers to develop and integrate the wine tourism potential of the property.”
The 53ha property is planted to approximately 35ha of vines on three contiguous Certificates of Title, located around 40km south of Adelaide, on Bayliss and California Roads, between the main arterial roads of Main South Road and Victor Harbor Road.
“The vineyard was first planted to Grenache in 1965, and today is planted to varieties best suited to the signature red wine styles for which McLaren Vale is famous as well as an assortment of interesting ‘new’ European varieties grafted in 2012,” Mr Dean said.
Mr Goode said Conte Estate vineyard was a picturesque and undulating holding featuring a modern residence, established gardens, associated shedding, large water storage, formed internal roadways and fencing.
Mr Goode said McLaren Vale was universally regarded as one of Australia’s most prestigious wine districts.
“The region is famous for its exceptional red wine styles and fresh local produce, whilst also offering key lifestyle benefits that lure people to the stunning Fleurieu Peninsula.”
