Cooley Auctions heads for warmer climes with expansion into Queensland

Cooley Auctions have headed over the border to Coolangatta and beyond, with leading auctioneer David Holmes to represent the brand north of the Tweed in its first interstate offering.

Although Cooley Auctions has been engaged by agents around Australia since 2003, the expansion marks the first time the group has had a dedicated service on-the-ground in  Queensland.

Mr Holmes, who was formerly Managing Director of Metro Auctions, will lead Cooley Auctions’ services across residential and commercial campaigns with a reach extending from the far north of the Sunshine State to northern New South Wales.

Cooley Auctions Managing Director Damien Cooley said the expansion represented a milestone for the brand.

“Cooley Auctions has enjoyed a longstanding history partnering with agencies for premium campaign results throughout Queensland,” Mr Cooley said.

He said he had great confidence that Queensland was set to experience heightened market activity as interstate residents look to relocate for lifestyle reasons post-COVID and investors continue to return to the state.

He also praised Mr Holmes’ industry knowledge and experience.

“David’s an accomplished auctioneer with extensive connections across Queensland,” he said.

“Supported by the resources and back-end infrastructure that underscores our reputation, I see David positioning Cooley Auctions as the leading independent auction partner for agents in Queensland.”

The growth also represents further strengthening of Cooley Auctions’ relationship with the Homely portal.

Mr Holmes serves as Homely’s Queensland Manager, while Mr Cooley is the property portal’s official ambassador. All of Cooley Auctions’ Sydney in-room events are held at the Homely Auction Rooms in Double Bay.

Mr Holmes has been Metro Auctions’ Managing Director for almost a decade, supporting agents up and down Australia’s eastern seaboard.

He is a three-time finalist in the Real Estate Institute of Queensland Auctioneer of the Year competition and former Chief Auctioneer for LJ Hooker across Australia.

Mr Holmes said: “Damien has grown Cooley Auctions to be Australia’s leading  independent real estate auction house”.

“I’m excited to represent a respected brand recognised industry-wide for professional  service, advice and results in Queensland.”
