How do you get more people to look at your listing? Simple. Just add a cute toddler.
That’s what Bell Real Estate agent Rebecca Halit learned when three-year-old Henry photo bombed the listings photographs, propelling the house at 17 Glen Harrow Heights Rd in Belgrave to international stardom.
The McAdam family listed their three-bedroom home, located in Belgrave just outside Melbourne. The listing photos capture the rustic feel of the property, which is surrounded by bushland. But the photo of the kitchen featured more than its timber finishes and gas cooktop, with Henry’s tiny head peeking from around the corner.
Ms Halit said she and vendor were trying to keep Henry distracted so the photographer could do their job.
“I’ve worked with the photographer a number of times and little Henry, who is very creative, also wanted to be part of the photos,” Ms Halit said.
“He was very excited by the whole process. We were barricading ourselves with the vendor and Henry in the laundry. Even so, he still became part of it.”
Ms Halit and the family didn’t notice until one of the vendors’ friends saw and posted it on Instagram, which was then shared across publications in Australia and the UK.
Ms Halit, who has been practising in the area for over three years, says she has had an overwhelming response since the photos went viral, with a number of people coming through the house.
“The response has been amazing. There is a fantastic amount of people coming through and good interest. The house itself is unique and it is a warm and welcoming home.”
The Belgrave area, about a 50-minute car or train trip to Melbourne CBD, is attracting people looking for a tree change, Ms Halit said. The vendors plan to stay in the area and upsize to a bigger family home.
