At a time of unprecedented technological advancement and shifting customer expectations, Dexar, the parent company of Laing+Simmons and Independent, focussed on ‘the human element’ at its annual convention recently.
Dexar’s Head of Sales and High Performance Simon McGuire said the human focus was particularly fitting.
“Real estate professionals can and should leverage all manner of tech innovations and data while remembering that property, at its heart, is about people. It’s a delicate balance but one that, once understood, unlocks powerful opportunities for our industry,” Mr McGuire said.
“Our convention was about exploring these opportunities from a practical, rational, mental, emotional and motivational perspective.”
“The Convention is equally about creating a forum for our people to be inspired and motivated, and providing them with real, actionable strategies that deliver personal, professional and business benefits.”
This year, the list of guest presenters was a who’s who of motivational speakers, business coach experts and real estate headliners.
Attendees heard from peak performance coach, speaker and author Rik Rushton; Harcourts Coastal Founder Dane Atherton; Kindred Group Chief Communications Officer and Peninsula Life Content Editor Carinda Gosling; world-renowned motivational speaker and author Paul McGee; REINSW Board Director Braden Walters; Coronis Chief Operating Officer Karuna Dimelow; and international keynote speaker and bestselling author Chris Helder.
Laing+Simmons Managing Director Leanne Pilkington said the convention is one of the most important events in the group’s calendar.
“Each year the convention balances new learnings, skill tune-ups and catalysts for industry change with inspiration and motivation for our people to re-set for the challenges ahead,” Ms Pilkington said.
“The objective is to empower our people by providing them something new and interesting each year, so they leave with another new competitive advantage that they didn’t have before. “
Independent Managing Director John Minns said the Dexar Convention is an increasingly important opportunity to share knowledge, sharpen skills, encourage learning and development, and create a successful and community focused team.
“Our annual convention is an important investment in both the culture and performance of our brand,” Mr Minns said.
“The rapid pace of change in consumer expectations, technology and the practice of real estate means connecting our people with leaders in these fields is critical to continued industry leadership.
“We had a great mix of professional, community and social events – the jungle themed fancy-dress party was a real highlight!”
