The ownership change comes as development ramps up with more residential towers adorning the Green Square skyline.
The Announcement:
With the skyline around the inner east suburbs of Waterloo and Zetland crammed with cranes, Raine & Horne Green Square has new but familiar owners set to take the leading local real estate office on the next leg of its growth journey.
The Inner East Sydney office is now owned and operated by Mr John Gymellas, Mr Sam Epsimos, and Mr John Katergarakis, who are long term principals of Raine & Horne Bexley/Beverly Hills.
Joining the experienced trio as part of the ownership team at Raine & Horne Green Square is Mr Marc Gable, who joined the Bexley/Beverly Hills team late in 2021[i].
Mr Gymellas, Mr Epsimos and Mr Gable will lead the Raine & Horne Green Square sales charge. At the same time, Mr Katergarakis is Head of Property Management, paralleling his role at the Bexley and Beverly Hills offices. A management expert, Mr Gable, will also oversee sales training activities at Green Square.
According to Mr Gymellas, buying Raine & Horne Green Square from original owner Mr Trevor Back was the next logical step in expanding the reach of Raine & Horne Bexley and Raine & Horne Beverly Hills.
“We originally pushed west from Bexley to establish Raine & Horne Beverly Hills that allows us to service suburbs such as Arncliffe. By purchasing Raine & Horne Green Square, we have a strategic link along the airport corridor via the M5 and the M8 between Tempe, Wolli Creek and Beverly Hills,” he said.
“Strategically, we are seeing people selling their beautiful two-bedroom apartments in the Green Square precinct and moving to Beverly Hills and surrounding suburbs, which still offer some of the Sydney’s most affordable housing.
“Having three Raine & Horne offices that can support the sales journey from an apartment in the inner east to a house in the St George area just seems to make a lot of sense to us.”
Business as usual at Raine & Horne Green Square
Mr Gymellas also paid respect to Mr Back, who has built a real estate office with a very healthy property management business. Mr Back will stay on at Raine & Horne Green Square in a consulting role.
“There are many cranes in action in the Green Square area operating on residential towers, while myself, John, Sam and Marc have a significant appetite to grow the property management business on the back of this extra stock that will hit the market over the next few years,” he said.
“Renter demand will go through the roof once international visitor numbers start to return to pre-COVID levels, which also adds to the logic of expanding our property management services.”
According to Mr Gymellas, the business partners are excited about expanding into the Green Square region. “We’re delighted that Trevor, who has plenty of business experience, is staying on as is the rest of the Raine & Horne Green Square team.
“Given we are very acquainted with all of Raine & Horne’s processes and systems and all the familiar faces at Raine & Horne Green Square are still in place, this change of ownership will be seamless for our landlords, tenants, buyers and vendors.
“They can feel safe in the knowledge that the business is in familiar hands.”
Mr Gymellas is also full of praise for Raine & Horne, which has allowed him and his business partners to achieve their expansionary goals.
“The support from Raine & Horne is outstanding. They are always there when you need them and are not in your way when you don’t.
“We have been with Raine & Horne for 15 years now and have never had any issues.”
