On getting into real estate
Our Principal Phil Haley chose me. I was working at Australia Post and he was so impressed with my service that he asked me to give him a call if I ever decided to change career. It took him two years to convince me to accept the job but he said it was worth the wait.
The happiest moment in my career
Knowing that I have been able to help my clients achieve their goals and dreams in this property market and I have been part of their journey. My genuine care for my clients has helped me achieve various awards such as Rookie of the Year, Gold Awards from RE/MAX network and Agent of the Year from Rate My Agent 2019 Awards.
The most memorable moment
My first sale was with a 92-year-old lady who was referred by my friends from the church. My vendor spoke limited English so she wanted to work with someone she could really trust.
The property was a one-bedroom apartment that sold for a favourable price, enabling her to secure a retirement home.
I also helped her sell her furniture and other belongings online and helped in any way I possibly could, which made me realise that being a real estate agent is not just about selling a property. It is more than that. It is really helping and caring about people, especially the elderly.
The last time we spoke she said she would miss me. So, I went and visited her in the nursing home and left her an orchid, which is still flowering.
Best advice she’s received
It is all about the mindset. A positive and active attitude can give anyone the edge in business and in life.
Biggest challenge
Coping with a fluctuating markets in volatile times.
Change for good?
I would like to see the public persona change from a negative attitude to a more positive attitude towards real estate agents. We are there for the clients and not just for ourselves.
