Harcourts Group Australia names new leader for Victoria state operations

Harcourts Group Australia CEO Marcus Williams has announced the appointment of Tony Morrison to the role of Harcourts Victoria CEO effective 10 December 2018.

Mr Morrison currently serves as the CEO of the Harcourts Tasmania state office, a role he has held since 2004, and will become CEO of both state corporate teams.

“Tony has driven the growth of the Harcourts brand across Tasmania,” said Mr Williams.

“In a time where the overall property market has had its struggles, Tony steadfastly supported our business owners and their businesses through the good times and the bad. He has a remarkable combination of leadership and entrepreneurship that is highly regarded throughout our network.”

For Mr Morrison, the additional responsibilities in Victoria are a natural extension of his leadership portfolio having spent the past six years providing elite training to Victoria-based Harcourts business owners and sales consultants.

“Over the years I have come to know much of our Victoria network,” said Mr Morrison.

“Sadhana and the state support team have built a great business network and I look forward to building upon the success, meeting with the teams in our offices and providing whatever help I can offer to continue to provide the finest experience in real estate.”

Noting that Sadhana Smiles, past CEO of the Harcourts Victoria state office, has transitioned into a role at Harcourts International, Mr Morrison added that he was “excited about the opportunity and honoured to have been selected for this new post.”

Mr Williams went on to note that Mr Morrison’s vision and commitment have set apart the Harcourts brand in the Tasmania market.

“Tony is highly respected outside of the Harcourts group as well, regularly holding training sessions as a way of sharing his knowledge of the industry with other professionals.”

A long-time resident of Launceston, Mr Morrison’s real estate career began in 1988 and over the last three decades he has achieved almost everything that could be achieved within the real estate industry.

Throughout the 1990s Mr Morrison won the Tasmania Multi-List Sales Person of the Year eight years in a row from 1991-98, as well as being the Professionals Top Sales Person from 1990-99.

In 2001 Mr Morrison, together with Scott Morrison and Kirsty Dunphey, set up M&M Real Estate and within three years the company was honoured by BRW in their Annual Top 100 List of fastest growing companies in Australia.

In 2003 Harcourts approved Mr Morrison to rebrand and grow the franchise group throughout Tasmania. In the role of CEO for Harcourts, Tony has taken the group to 25 offices throughout the state with a combined 25 per cent market share as well as facilitating the setting up of NAI Harcourts Commercial and Harcourts Rural Tasmania, which has now become Landmark Harcourts Tasmania.

For his tremendous contribution to the Tasmanian real estate industry, Mr Morrison was inducted into Harcourts celebrated Hall of Fame in 2015.

With Harcourts growing throughout Australia, Mr Morrison’s appointment continues the company’s emphasis on retaining talent.

“We are delighted to have Tony’s talents and leadership as part of our business in Victoria as well as Tasmania while we work toward becoming the leading real estate group in Australia and recognised as creating the finest experience for our clients, our teams and our business partners.”

It is also no secret that Mr Morrison is a die-hard Carlton fan and he said he will now be able to spend time in the home of the Blues, along with more time with his two children who attend university nearby.

Mr Morrison remains an owner of the Harcourts Launceston, Harcourts Longford and NAI Harcourts North offices.
