After a quarter of a century, singer Janet Jackson is selling her Central Park apartment for US$8.995 million.
Jackson, who is the sister of the legendary performer Michael Jackson, purchased the apartment for US$2.8 million in 1998, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The exclusive apartment offers views over the famous Billionaires’ Row and is attached to New York’s Trump International Hotel.
The three-bedroom, 195sq m home, is spread over the 34th floor of One Central Park West and also looks over Central Park.
The apartment has a light-filled, open-plan living and dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as a wood-panelled library, and a window dining counter in the kitchen to maximise access to the views.
The unit comes with access to the amenities of the Trump International Hotel, including room service from Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s eponymous restaurant.
Listing agent, Allison Koffman of Sotheby’s International Realty said Jackson is selling because it’s time for someone else to enjoy it and make new memories.
Jackson said the home always made her feel tranquil and at peace, and brought back a host of memories.
“Whenever entering my apartment of 25 years, I always treasured my home’s wonderful location and the breathtaking views that capture the magic and excitement of New York,” Jackson said in a statement.
