NAI Harcourts Metro has joined forces with Access Plus WA Deaf to bring support an education to parents of newborn babies that cannot fully hear.
The unique partnership has been formed to offer Auslan services across a diverse number of sections, including health entertainment and local government.
Auslan is short for Australian sign language, a language developed by, and for, Australians who are deaf or hard of hearing.
It’s a visual form of communication that uses hand, arm, and body movements to convey meaning.
The partnership will start by offering support and education for parents of newborn babies who present with a hearing loss with materials in maternity wards.
NAI Harcourts Metro Managing Director Tony Romano said he was delighted to form the partnership with Access Plus WA Deaf.
“I am confident our partnership will bring a greater understanding and recognition by the broader business and general community of the great work Access Plus WA Deaf provides to the deaf and hard of hearing community here in Western Australia,” he said.
“I am sure the partnership will allow Access Plus WA Deaf to continue to build its resources and range of services and allow both partners to bring Auslan everywhere.”
Access Plus WA Deaf Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Adam said the partnership would also help support parents who are deaf or hard of hearing.
“Access Plus provides services to the deaf and hard of hearing community including Auslan interpreting, Community language assistance and Auslan training,” she said.
“Through working in close partnership with NAI Harcourts Metro, I believe this will help us enhance and enrich our services to our customers through innovation and quality customer experience.
“Together we bring materials that provide information to support and educate parents that are Deaf or Hard of Hearing along their pregnancy journey.”
