REA Group pledges $122,00 to fight homelessness

REA Group has stepped up to support Nedd Brockmann’s Uncomfortable Challenge, pledging $122,000 to help tackle homelessness across Australia.

The campaign, spearheaded by Mr Brockmann, an electrician-turned-runner, is aimed at raising awareness and much-needed funds for the charity We Are Mobilise.

In a bold move, he is attempting to set a world record by running 1,000 miles, all while working towards a fundraising goal of $10 million to support Australians experiencing homelessness.

REA Group Chief Executive Officer, Owen Wilson, highlighted the company’s long-standing commitment to addressing homelessness through various community partnerships.

“Homelessness is a nationwide issue that unites the REA team, and we’ve partnered with organisations that are working to end homelessness for many years,” he said.

Mr Wilson further underscored the importance of their involvement in Mr Brockmann’s campaign, adding: “REA’s purpose is to change the way the world experiences property, this includes those experiencing homelessness. Everybody deserves a safe place to sleep every night, and we’re so pleased to make a $122,000 pledge to Nedd’s Uncomfortable Challenge.”

The donation is not only a financial boost but also symbolises the 122,000 Australians who are facing homelessness on any given night.

Mr Wilson believes this campaign, along with the efforts of We Are Mobilise, has set a high bar for corporate Australia to follow suit.

“Nedd’s impactful campaign and the work of We Are Mobilise set the bar high for communities and corporate Australia to do more and to be part of the solution,” he said.

We Are Mobilise Founder and CEO, Noah Yang, expressed heartfelt appreciation for REA’s support of their mission.

“We have been working with REA in the lead-up to Nedd’s run, so it was no surprise that when we put a call out to corporate Australia, they stepped up to take a stand and no longer accept homelessness as a fact of life,” said Yang.

“This donation represents the largest single donation to the campaign to date – but symbolically also represents the 122,000 people facing homelessness across Australia.

Watching Nedd during his incredible run has truly shown us that anything is possible. We’ll be tenacious in our efforts to make both REA Group and the other 40,000+ donors proud.”

The Uncomfortable Challenge follows a series of other significant community support initiatives by REA Group.

Earlier this year, their Ready24 event raised over $400,000 in support of various community organisations.

Wilson confirmed that Ready will return in 2025, continuing to raise funds and awareness to combat homelessness and support the communities that need it most.
