REACH Australia and New Zealand unveils the class of 2024

A tech-driven, custom-tailored menswear brand, a resident experience company meeting the demands of modern living and a group that empowers anyone to buy and sell tiny squares of conservation land, have been named in 2024 REACH Australia and New Zealand program.

Second Century Ventures, the strategic arm of the National Association of REALTORS, today revealed nine innovative companies had been named in the fifth cohort of the program.

Launched in 2019, the REACH Australia and New Zealand program is the longest running program outside of the US, and has evolved to become a cornerstone for technology companies aiming to scale their growth and make a lasting impact on the real estate communities of Australia and New Zealand.

REACH Asia Pacific Managing Partner Peter Schravemade said the nine companies in this year’s cohort had been handpicked and would be formally introduced to industry coaches, influencers, peak bodies and mentors at the annual REACH Genesis Conference in Brisbane from March 14 to 16.

“We are honoured to again have the opportunity to work with more exciting property technology start-ups,” Mr Schravemade said.

“This year, nine companies represent the largest amount of companies taken on in a calendar year for the REACH program.

“Regardless of your area of specialisation, there is value within the group of nine companies.”

One of the companies named in this year’s cohort is the THDR Group, also known as THEODORE, which is an Australian-born, custom-tailored menswear brand that uses technology to redefine the traditional way consumers buy suits.

The THDR Pocket Tailor App uses advanced deep learning technology to take instant, contactless measurements for the tailored, luxury suits.

Computer generated patterns and laser fabric cutters are then used to create the suits, which include hand-finished stitching.

THDR Group Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Tim Aquino, said the idea for changing the way measurements are taken, and suits created, formed during lockdown and THDR was now three-years-old.

He said the company’s main clients were real estate agents and the wedding market.

“We have clients from Alaska, to Darwin and to the UK,” Mr Aquino said.

“The bridge that we’ve built is the AI-powered app that enables anybody around the world to take their contactless body measurements.

“It takes about 83 unique data points for us to review and then create a custom suit.”

Mr Aquino said THDR was excited to be named as one of the REACH program companies for 2024.

“With our expansion to the US, specifically, we see that as a pivotal partnership that’s really crucial for what we want to achieve over the next 12 months,” he said.

Mr Aquino said as well as expanding internationally, THDR was also looking to release a range of womenswear.

Recently awarded the RESIDENTIAL VC OF THE YEAR by CRETI in 2022, the REACH program has consistently asserted its dominance within the Australian property technology community, solidifying partnerships with multiple real estate institute peak bodies and also the PropTech Association of Australia.

Second Century Ventures Managing Partner Dave Garland said this commitment underscored REACH’s integral role in propelling innovation and collaboration within the industry.

“For five years, this program has been a driving force for Australian and New Zealand real estate technology, opening doors to global markets,” he said.

“The diverse and innovative 2024 cohort demonstrates our unwavering dedication to fostering the best innovation and talent from the Asia Pacific region.”
