Rules relaxed for Victorian inspections and auctions

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has announced further relaxations to the state’s COVID-19 restrictions.

Open for inspections and in-person auctions can now be attended by up to 20 people indoors, and 50 outdoors.

Workers in the Melbourne CBD will return to offices from next week, with strict capacity numbers and cleaning procedures.

“We will begin a slow, steady and safe return to work for those who have been working from home,” Mr Andrews said.

“That is to say, 25 per cent of staff will be able to be in the office – and it is mainly offices – 75 per cent will still need to work from home, and we will make further announcements over the course of the coming weeks and months,” he said.

It is no longer mandatory for citizens to wear a mask when leaving their house, although Mr Andrews cautions that common sense will have to drive this step.

Masks are still required indoors, but not when outside and appropriate distancing can be maintained.

“If you’re headed for a quiet stroll around the neighbourhood, you won’t need to wear a mask,” Mr Andrews explained.

“But you will need to carry one, in case the situation changes.”

Victoria’s next steps towards further freedoms will be announced on December 6.
