Grammy award-winning artist Solange Knowles has sold her historic Hollywood loft and a 100-year-old stone church in the Garden District of New Orleans.
The combined sale price for both properties was about US$1.7 million, according to Dirt.com.
The third-floor loft in a 1920s Art Deco building at the corner of Hollywood and Vine was listed for under $800,000 and features one bedroom and two bathrooms across 126sq m of living space.
The property boasts polished concrete floors, exposed wood-beam ceilings, steel-case windows throughout, and an open-concept living area.
Custom-tailored by Knowles, who is Beyonce’s sister, with black art and collectibles, the loft also includes a wet bar-equipped living room, a dining area, and a kitchen with stainless steel Viking appliances.
A black metal staircase leads up to the primary bedroom suite, which has a bath with a Japanese soaking tub. The unit also includes a small office/guest bedroom space.
Residents of the building benefit from a $1518 monthly homeowners association fees, which grants access to building amenities like a 24-hour doorman, valet parking, and a roof terrace with stunning views of the Hollywood sign.
The property also qualifies for the Mills Act, providing reduced property taxes in exchange for preserving historic structures.
The 100-year-old stone church in New Orleans, which Knowles purchased in 2018, has also been sold for just under US$1 million.
The building encompasses 696sq m with 4.5m to 5.5m ceilings and hardwood floors, according to Nola.com.
She had intended it as a “creative hub” for Saint Heron, an agency she founded to help artists with branding.
The space will no longer be used for the agency, which has expanded internationally, so Knowles decided to sell it.
