Storybook cottage features doors from Peter Rabbit movie set

A charming country property in Kurrajong Hills has hit the market featuring the doors used in the set of the Peter Rabbit movie.

The home’s most distinctive feature is its collection of four doors that were originally imported from the Cotswolds in the UK for the movie set constructed in Sydney’s Centennial Park.

Owner Stephanie Clay said the doors that now adorn the home are very unique.

“The front door is from Beatrix Potter’s house in the movie,โ€ Ms Clay said.

โ€œThe door still has ‘Beatrix’s door’ written in pen along the top edge of it.

“Our back door and shed doors are from Mr McGregor’s house and conservatory.

โ€œThey fit the look of the property perfectly and we love them. Plus I never get sick of telling people Sam Neill has touched my doors!”

The property also holds significant historical value beyond its cinematic connections.

According to Ms Clay, the original hermitage of Hermitage Road was once located on the site back in the 1820s before being destroyed by bushfire, as was a second structure built later.

The current home was constructed in the 1980s.

“I have a jar full of bits of China, keys, and toothpaste lids from the Victorian era,” Ms Clay said.

“Every time we put a spade in the ground we dig up something.

โ€œThe other day we found a saw which we researched and found it was from the 1800s.

โ€œSo it was probably one of the original saws used to clear the land.”

Ray White agent Cindy Cash described the property as having all the elements buyers seek in the area.

“It’s a gorgeous character home. It’s quintessentially what people look for in Kurrajong,” Ms Cash said.

The property offers the perfect balance of rural living with urban convenience, situated just an hour from Sydney.

“It has beautiful sweeping views and gorgeous gardens, including vegetable gardens and paddocks for animals,โ€ she said.

โ€œIt’s like a little farmhouse.

“It could really suit someone who wants a tree change but still wants to be close to the city.

She said the property has all the benefits of country living but it’s only an hour from the city.

โ€œIt’s also really close to Kurrajong village. Its location is close to everything but it feels like you’re in the middle of the country,โ€ she said.

“I really love the doors and I wish we could take them with us, but they will be here for the next owner to enjoy,” Ms Clay said, who is now looking to downsize to a property with less land.

Located at 244 Hermitage Road on 4.65 hectares, the property is being marketed by Ray White North Richmond with a price guide of $2.5-2.65 million.
