Survey results show what really makes property managers happy

Property software provider Rockend has released the results of their 2018 Voice of the Australian Property Management survey which has shown how property managers really feel about their industry.

The survey of 1,034 property management professions, including property managers, principals, heads of departments, BDMs and trust managers, was aimed at establishing a benchmark for the feeling of those in the property management industry, and to get a snapshot of some of the key issues being faced.

It’s an industry first according to Rockend Head of Marketing Catherine Vissiere, who said it gave an important snapshot into how property managers feel about their roles in an office.

“The data shows that it’s not just the hours worked or the time in the industry that determines if someone is a detractor or promoter, but how they perceive their opportunities and if they feel valued,” Ms Vissiere said.

Some of the statistics were concerning, with only 25 per cent of those surveyed saying they were currently upbeat about the future of the industry, compared to 47 per cent who were passive and 28 per cent negative. A lot of the issues came from PMs feeling overworked, underpaid, and concerned they have few prospects.

Security in the role was important to staff, with 92 per cent of those who were positive about the industry saying they felt secure in their role, compared to 63 per cent of those who were detractors.
