The team from Rex Software has announced the second headline act for Rexfest, its free, two-month-long learning festival, unveiling a new calendar designed specifically for the real estate sector.
The new Rex Calendar, which synchronises with external providers such as Google and Outlook, has been purpose-built for the industry in order to streamline office processes and help make better use of agents’ time.
“This is our biggest feature release to date,” product owner Tom McCarthy said.
“Our goal was to create a revamped calendar, designed solely for real estate professionals, to give them one place to look and see everything they have coming up – in all parts of their life.”
The Rex Calendar was developed following feedback from clients, who suggested there was a need for agents and administrative staff to have more than a basic calendar built into their CRM.
The Rex team uses Uservoice to seek input from customers, which is then used to prioritise future feature development.
Mr McCarthy said Rex had received numerous requests for a fully integrated calendar in recent years but had taken time to develop the product to ensure it had the requisite amount of functionality and was ready for market.
“In our exploration and research phase, we spent a lot of time with different types of agents and admin staff discovering what they actually want to get out of a calendar,” Mr McCarthy said.
“The most annoying thing about scheduling a meeting has to be finding a time that suits everyone.
“During lockdown, when agencies were holding more and more team meetings, we decided to build ‘find a time’ functionality that lets colleagues easily see each others’ availability.”
Modelled on the Google Calendar, the Rex Calendar has been designed with the end user in mind, with a big emphasis placed on intuitiveness.
“A calendar has the potential to be so much more than just a diary of appointments,” Mr McCarthy said. “Through smart design decisions, we’ve minimised the potential for user friction that wastes time.”
Mr McCarthy said Rex developers would be adding extra functionality to allow agency managers and owners to easily report on appointments and ensure staff members are meeting appraisal targets.
