Tom Petty’s oceanfront Malibu beach house hits the market

The Malibu home of the musician, Tom Petty has officially hit the market with an asking price of US$9.8 Million.

According to The Dirt, the estate of the late vocalist and guitarist who passed away 2017, has put the property up for sale.

Sitting on the white sand of Escondido Beach, the beach house boasts 20 metres of ocean frontage and comprises a main house and guesthouse.

The home was originally built in the 1950s and sits on 0.38 acres of prime beachfront real estate with sweeping coastline views.

The main, also known as “Moose Lodge”, contains wood, brick and stone interiors, with the main living area capitalising on the incredible views with ceiling-high windows and ​​an ocean-view deck with steps leading down to the beach.

The kitchen boasts all the latest stainless steel appliances while the dining room is lined with built-in bookshelves.

There are two bedrooms in the master retreat along with a fireplace, private deck, walk-in closet, and bath with dual vanities and a spa tub.

On the lower level, there’s a large family room, while some of the other highlights include a brick patio area and a guesthouse that comes with its own kitchenette and bathroom.

Petty used the guesthouse as his own personal recording studio and houses a grand piano and musical equipment.

The property also comes with a two-car garage, as well as security and solar systems.

Petty paid US$6.8 million for the beach house in 2010 and also owned a Mediterranean-style mansion on Malibu’s Pacific Coast Highway, as well as a Pacific Palisades house.
